Munising Baptist trio earns boys basketball awards

WETMORE — Three players on the boys basketball team at Munising Baptist High School earned honors when the Northern Lights League determined postseason honors recently.

Senior Gabe Heyrman and freshman Ian Cross were each named to the boys all-conference honorable mention list, while Bobcats sophomore Ethan Swift earn a position on the league’s Sportsmanship squad.

This league is made up of some of the smallest-enrollment schools in Michigan, all located in the Upper Peninsula and several Great Lakes islands located off the coast of the U.P.

Senior Sam Beaver of the Hannahville Nah Tah Wahsh school near Wilson in Menominee County was named Northern Lights Player of the Year for the boys, while senior Caragin Thill of Big Bay de Noc in Cooks was named Player of the Year in girls basketball.
