MARQUETTE — Five Marquette players were among 27 from the Upper Peninsula named to all-state high school hockey teams in March by the Michigan High School Hockey Coaches Association.

With all teams from this region playing in MHSAA Division 3 this season, nearly all the U.P. honorees were also listed under D-3 honors. The only exceptions, two players from outside Marquette County, were named to the all-division Freshmen team.

A pair of Sentinels seniors earned top honors on the all-state First Team — forward Brody Sheldon and goaltender Parker Nevenhoven.

Two Marquette underclassmen made it on the Second Team, junior forward Seth Sandstorm and sophomore defenseman Jacob Spagnuolo, while the Sentinels’ fifth honoree was on the Honorable Mention list, senior defenseman and captain Brody Lemire.

Another 20 players from Calumet, Escanaba, Houghton, Hancock and Jeffers also made the First Team, Second Team and Honorable Mention.
