Originally rescheduled for Sunday, the NMU team may have found the change worth it with a 73-46 blasting of Davenport at Vandament Arena.
In the process, the No. 12 ranked Northern women also saw a milestone, with senior Jacy Weisbrod exceeding 1,000 career points as she pumped in a game-high 15 points.
The sharpshooting guard became the 29th player in NMU women’s history to reach that summit, making three 3-pointers and both her free-throw attempts on Friday. She added in three rebounds, a blocked shot and no turnovers in 27 minutes court time.
Teammate Alyssa Hill, a Negaunee High School product, added 12 points, hitting 6 of 8 from the field, all 2-pointers, and grabbed seven rebounds, also dishing out three assists and making a blocked shot.

Eleven players both scored and grabbed a rebound, Baraga High School graduate Reide Osterman leading all rebounders with eight as Northern teammates Sydney Whitehouse and Jordyn Schmittdiel adding seven caroms apiece.
Madison Schroeder was the Wildcats’ next top scorer with nine points in just 14 minutes playing time as she hit on 4 of 5 from the field, adding in four rebounds.
Maddie Geers and Nevaeh Willams scored 11 points each to pace the Panthers, who slipped to 3-8 overall and 1-2 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
NMU, now 12-1 and 3-0 in the GLIAC, got off to a bit of a slow start, leading just 16-14 after one quarter and 37-28 at halftime. But they outscored their guests by seven points in the third and 11 in the fourth for the runaway win.
Usual game details weren’t available with the Wildcats’ box score available at the NMU athletics website, nmuwildcats.com.
Today’s game will go on as originally scheduled at 1 p.m. today against the nation’s No. 1 team, GLIAC foe Grand Valley State (11-0, 3-0).
