Osborne puts up 32 in Sentinels’ win over Pats
MARQUETTE — Avery Osborne put up 32 points to lead Marquette to a 57-40 high school girls basketball victory at home over Westwood on Thursday night.
What was termed a solid, defensive front made scoring difficult for the Patriots and helped get the Sentinels a number of layups at the other end, too.
Haley Taylor and Addi Kramer added eight points apiece in the winning effort as seven MSHS players scored, while Westwood was paced by Emerson Williams with 13 points.
In a game on Tuesday at the Patriots gym, Houghton prevailed over Westwood 72-32. Morgan Schneider and Makenna Olson paced WHS with eight points each as Emmi Carlson pitched in with six.
The Gremlins’ Mia Lawson led all scorers with 17 points, while teammate Ruby Zawada added 16.
Marquette hosts Houghton at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, then travels to Kingsford for a 7:30 p.m. EST game on Friday.
Westwood has three road games next week, all starting at 7:15 p.m. EST — at Baraga on Monday, at Iron Mountain on Tuesday and at Manistique on Friday.
