MARQUETTE — Due to a power outage at Northern Michigan University that can be blamed on the massive winter storm that struck the area in recent days, the women’s and men’s basketball games scheduled for New Year’s Day, Thursday, have been postponed to Sunday afternoon.
They will be played at the same place, Vandament Arena, and at the same times, the women’s game at 1 p.m. and men’s at 3 p.m. And the opponent will be the same, Davenport of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
Tickets already purchased for the Thursday contests will be honored on Sunday.
Specifically because of an outage at the PEIF — Physical Education Instructional Facility — the games had to rescheduled.
But games set for Saturday at Vandament, another GLIAC doubleheader against Grand Valley State, are still on as scheduled, again the women’s game at 1 p.m. and men’s at 3 p.m., pending the power restoration going as scheduled.
