MARQUETTE — The Marquette Senior High School hockey program is holding a tech-savvy, online fundraiser that runs through Dec. 3.

Though the appeals have taken to the internet, the Sentinels still look to local contributors to help keep their various teams running.

“Fundraising is vital for the success of our program,” the main page of the fundraiser states at https://app.verticalraise.com/fundraiser/marquette-hockey-fundraiser-2025/.

“The funds will aid us in purchasing new uniforms, travel costs, equipment and other pertinent expenses.

“Each participant has a monetary goal, please consider donating or sharing via social media so that they may reach it. Thank you so much for your continued support.”

Head coach Doug Garrow sent The Mining Journal an email about the fundraiser with a link to its home page.

The page has further links for donations and more about the campaign that is available on Facebook and X, the former Twitter.

It showed a fundraising goal of $15,000 with a little more than 70% of that already reached, or $10,887 as of Wednesday evening.

Several ways of support are available from the home page, the major ones monetary donations to the program, both for individuals and businesses and organizations.

“Boost our cause through business sponsorship,” one subhead states, with details that follow: “If you’re a business owner or know of a company interested in supporting a worthy endeavor, click on the Corporate Sponsor box below.

“Learn more about how your company can be prominently featured on our fundraising page, visible to all our supporters and visitors. It’s a win-win opportunity for your business and our program.”

“Double your donation,” another subhead says, going on with details: “When donating, please make sure to type in your employer in the ‘double your donation’ section to see if they are listed in our database of companies that participate in a donor match program for their employees. It could double your donation and help our program even more.”

On this web page, the MSHS hockey program has also made available online purchases of spirit gear, such as clothing, hats, travel mugs and backpacks under about 20 brand names that include Carhartt, Champion and The North Face.

And there is a thank-you page for some of the largest and/or most recent contributors. Wednesday night’s list included Uncle Ducky Outdoors LLC putting up $500, with a long of list of individuals that range down to $10. Some of the names nearer the top of the list are Stanley Niemi, Joe Dubow, Steven Hartz, Roderick J. Modell, Shawn Sheldon, Michelle Norton and Nancy Jensen.
