13 from area earn All-U.P. Special, Honorable Mention
MARQUETTE — Thirteen players earned Special Mention and Honorable Mention awards in All-Upper Peninsula voting for 11-player football during the U.P. Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association fall meeting held at Northern Michigan University on Wednesday.
Special Mention was awarded for players who earned two or more votes in First Team voting, while all others were named Honorable Mention.
Here are those players from area teams, listed with year in school, height and weight where available, and nominated position:

Marquette — Andy Thurston, senior, 6-foot, 225 pounds, offensive guard; James Goodwin, senior, 5-9, 180, running back; Brody Clements, junior, 6-3, 170, wide receiver
Negaunee — Broc Bonovetz, senior, 5-10, 185, running back
L’Anse — Matthew Rinkinen, senior, 6-1, 165, defensive back
