Every Sentinel gets in for volleyball sweep of Menominee
MARQUETTE — Head coach Melissa Butler was able to get lots of players on the court as the Marquette Senior High School volleyball team swept Menominee in three sets at the Barb Crill Gymnasium on Thursday evening.
The Sentinels prevailed 25-17, 25-12, 25-11 to improve to 6-9-1, while the Maroons fell to 1-12.
“(This was a) great home win for Marquette,” Butler said. “Everyone had the opportunity to play and contribute to the team’s success.
“(I’m) proud of the energy, focus and team camaraderie displayed throughout the match.”
The victory was Marquette’s second in a row — to go with a five-set victory at Gladstone last Tuesday — after the Sentinels had dropped five of six, mostly to Upper Peninsula top-five opposition that included Kingsford, Houghton and twice against Calumet.
After having hosted the Sentinel Varsity Invitational on Saturday, MSHS is scheduled to travel to Manistique at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
