Sentinels roar back for 5-set volleyball win at Negaunee

NEGAUNEE — Marquette overcame a lull in the middle of its high school volleyball match and came back to take a five-set victory at Negaunee on Tuesday evening.

The Sentinels’ winning score was 25-14, 16-25, 16-25, 25-21, 15-5 as they improved to 2-1 this season.

“We showcased resilience and determination in a five-set victory over Negaunee,” MSHS head coach Melissa Butler said. “We came out strong, playing well as a team.

“However, momentum shifted as Negaunee fought back in Sets 2 and 3. I am proud of our team for refusing to back down and regrouping with a focus on our goals.

“With energy and focus, we as a team sealed the win in the final set, completing a hard-fought and well-earned comeback to take the win.”

Individual statistics weren’t available for either team.
