ESCANABA — Mikey D’s Beer Cave of Escanaba advanced to the championship game of the Superiorland Baseball League with a 2-1 victory over the Marquette County Mavericks in Escanaba on Monday.

Mikey D’s got on the board first in the bottom of the sixth inning on a suicide squeeze by Ben Snyder, scoring Cam Kelly.

The Mavericks bounced back in the top of the seventh when Jack Siik hit an RBI single after James Larsen II reached on an error and advanced to second base on a wild pitch.

Mikey D’s walked it off in the bottom of the seventh when Bon LaChance came up to bat with the bases loaded as Chase Clouiter, Tyler Lawson and Cam Kelly all drew walks in previous plate appearances. LaChance came through with the game-winning hit to right field.

“Cam and Bon have come through with big hits two weeks in a row,” Snyder said. “We are super lucky to have them and we are excited about being in the championship game next Monday.”

Elliott Danhoff pitched for Mikey D’s, allowing one run on two hits with nine strikeouts.

“Elliott battled,” Snyder said. “He didn’t have his best stuff but battled for the team and we were able to scrape a couple runs across to get the win he deserved.”

Justin Kirby took the loss for the Marquette County team, allowing two runs on four hits with five strikeouts.

“Justin pitched a heck of a game for the Mavericks,” Snyder said. “He was hitting his spots and got the big outs when they needed it.”

Mikey D’s will host the Channing Railroaders at 7 p.m. Monday at the Al Ness Field in Escanaba as Mikey D’s hosts the championship game for the first time in the history of the league.

Starting at $3.23/week.
