Marquette Roller Derby splits at Lakeview

MARQUETTE — The Marquette Roller Derby team split a pair of bouts held at Lakeview Arena in Marquette last Saturday.

The Upper Peninsula representative lost to Lansing Roller Derby 335-72, but bounced back for a 210-87 victory over Grand Raggidy B.

Marquette team representative Victoria Dollar, known as Bandit on her team, said that the state’s roller derby teams are still in a rebuilding stage since the COVID-19 pandemic.

This was Marquette’s final home bouts — i.e, games — of the season, though the team will travel to the Lower Peninsula in each of the next two months.

In September, MRD travels to Ithaca to take on the Central Michigan Mayhem, then in mid-October, likely Oct. 17-19, will be entered in the Mitten Kitten Splash-Up in the Detroit suburb of Fraser.

The Mitten Kitten information was shown on an Instagram post by Great Lakes Roller Derby, the host for the event.
