Holma finds her hitting shoes to power Barrel + Beam
ISHPEMING — After several weeks of rainouts, Hannah Holma didn’t forget how to smack a softball a long ways, which she did in Barrel + Beam’s 25-4 victory over Dave’s Collision-Jack’s in a Class A game of the Iron Range Women’s Softball League on July 30.
Holma finished 4 for 4 with her over-the-fence home run, while teammates Amanda Harlock, who also doubled, and Tia Mattila each went 3 for 4 with a pair of triples.
Mel Maddock, who was cited for great defense, and Sydney Wickstrom paced Dave’s-Jack’s by both going 3 for 3.
In another “A” game, Gabby Hebert went 5 for 5 while hitting two triples as Jasper Ridge Brewery outscored the Eagles 21-5. Teammate Amber Emanuelson added a 4-for-4 night, while the Eagles’ Bella Nora and Jojo West both tripled.
Britney Rovelsky was 4 for 4 and Katie Rankinen 3 for 5 as each collected three RBIs in Congress Pizzas’ 16-8 win over Pasquali’s, whose Brandee Spagnuolo was 3 for 4 with an RBI.
Rayna Warchock scraped up three triples and Morgan Kowalski had a pair of the three-baggers as LaCosse & Associates rolled up a 24-3 win over River Rock, whose Jen Bahrman tripled.
In Class B, just about everybody putting on their extra-base hitting shoes for Tino’s in a 21-5 victory over Willey’s Tire Shop.
The winners’ Kassy Antilla hit a homer and two triples, Aspen Rackman ripped a triple and two doubles, Lauri Saldana cracked three doubles, Paige Willey two doubles, while four more teammates each had a double — Randi Roose, Amber Forcini, Chelsea Belanger and Melissa Bauer.
Leading Willey’s was Lindsey Williams with a pair of doubles and Amy Williams with a homer.
In other “B” play, Veronica Slone bashed a three-run homer and two-run double while going 5 for 5 in Quality Car Care’s 25-18 outburst over Palomaki Family Chiropractic.
The winners’ Lori Ring and Connie Kontio also went 5 for 5, Ring hitting three doubles and Kontio a triple.
Palomaki’s Katie Trudgeon was 4 for 4, Mallory Pruett-Shank 3 for 4 and Val Prusi cranked a homer.
Livvie Denofre smacked a pair of homers and a pair of doubles as Pineshears flew past Signs Unlimited 19-12 for its first win of the season. Teammates Amber Tuominen and Nikki Long each were 4 for 4, while Lindy Martin doubled.
Signs’ Siiri Lawson tripled and Becky Gauthier doubled.
Hailey Hytinen went 5 for 5 with a pair of doubles and Kylie Tobias 5 for 6 with a triple and double to lead Paradise Bar to a 16-5 win over Elks Lodge, whose Deanna Mingay and Courtney Beauchamp both went 2 for 2.
