Brianna Bauer pops one over the fence for Eagles in a Class B game of the Iron Range Women’s Softball League

NEGAUNEE — Brianna Bauer hit an over-the-fence home run while going 2 for 3 to lead the Eagles to a 25-14 win over Paradise Bar in Class B of the Iron Range Women’s Softball League on Wednesday.

The Eagles all but clinched Class B by opening a three-game lead with the victory. Teammate Olivia Negilski went 4 for 4 with a “regular” homer and a double, while Laycee Mattson was 3 for 5 with a homer and triple and Melladee Bass was 3 for 3 and cited for playing “exceptionally well defensively.”

For Paradise, Kylie Tobias was 5 for 5 with a pair of triples, Hailey Hytinen 3 for 5 with a homer and double, Mariah Heard 4 for 4, and Kathy Maynard 3 for 4.

In other “B” action, Chelsea Roberts pumped out two triples and a homer as Pineshears narrowly escaped with a 17-16 win over Willey’s Tire Shop.

The winners’ Kinsie Hopper homered and Nikki Long doubled, while Willey’s Lindsay Williams was 4 for 4 and Miranda Cobb hit a double.

Lori Ring went 4 for 4 while scoring four runs and Joanna Smail 3 for 3 with a triple as Quality Car Care scored a 13-3 win over Elks Lodge, whose Nicole Sundberg doubled.

In addition, Signs Unlimited won by forfeit over Tino’s, while Martin Sports did the same vs. Palomaki Family Chiropractic.

In Class A, Rayna Warchock homered while going 4 for 5 to lead Barrel + Beam past Dave’s Collision-Jack’s 19-14.

B+B’s Tia Mattila was 5 for 5, Amanda Harlock 4 for 5 and Chloe Wolffis tripled, while Dave’s-Jack’s Mel Maddock was 4 for 4 and Libbie Doney 3 for 4 with a triple. In addition, Dave’s-Jack’s Arica Altobello twice hit a triple and Faith Toutant had one three-bagger.

Jess Geist homered and picked up four RBIs as Pasquali’s nipped Jasper Ridge Brewery 12-10.

The winners’ Jordan Fitzpatrick went 4 for 4 and Beth Ortman 3 for 4, while Jasper’s Vanessa Taavola was 3 for 4 with two RBIs and Brittany Singer tripled.

Brandi Logan got three hits and Chelsie Wealton tripled as Congress Pizzas scored a 13-3 triumph over River Rock, whose Alyssa Hill and Harley Byer each collected three hits.

All-around great hitting was credited for Screened Image-Barr’s Bar scoring a big 31-2 win over LaCosse & Associates, whose Vanessa Ghiardi had a single and RBI.
