McDonald’s chalks up 4 Little League Minors baseball wins

ISHPEMING — Little League Minor Division baseball teams in Marquette County are going about playing their league games this spring.

Some results have been reported from these games featuring 9- and 10-year-old boys and girls from the Ishpeming, Negaunee, Marquette and Gwinn Little League associations.

Here is a roundup of these reports:


McDonald’s 9, Iron Range Agency 6

On May 15, McDonald’s Jackson Jarvis reached base all three times up on a single, double and walk. Teammate Ryker Smith made it on twice with a double and inside-the-park home run.

That pair also combined to pitch the entire game and split the win, Smith recording six strikeouts and Jarvis three.

Iron Range’s Eric Witt reached base twice on walks and also scored, while teammate Patrick O’Brien had six strikeouts in just two innings pitched.


McDonald’s 6, WIN Lawn Care 2

On May 20, McDonald’s Crosby Heikkinen and Kellin Matta each reached base twice, Heikkinen on a single and walk and Matta on two walks as each also scored a run.

The winners’ Smith pitched two innings with 3 K’s as Jarvis had an inning on the mound also with 3 whiffs.

WIN’s Finley Bjorkman doubled and scored, while teammate Jackson Rich had four strikeouts in two innings.


McDonald’s 11, WIN Lawn Care 5

On May 27, McDonald’s Finn Heikkinen doubled and walked, while Jarvis was 2 of 2 with a double and inside-the-park homer.

Smith again towed the rubber, fanning six in two innings, while Crosby Heikkinen had 2 K’s during his first time on the mound.

WIN’s Liam Dugan walked twice as Theo Heikkila also drew a walk and scored.


McDonald’s 13, Iron Range Agency 8

On June 3, the winners’ Silas Pope doubled and walked, while Ella Boyd drew a pair of walks and scored twice. Jarvis had five K’s in 1 2/3 innings pitched, while Pope had 2 whiffs in 1 1/3 innings.

IRA’s Patrick O’Brien doubled and walked, while Max Roberts drew a walk and scored.
