Lindsay Williams powers Willey’s Tire Shop to win over Martin Sports on opening night of Iron Range Women’s Softball League
NEGAUNEE — Lindsay Williams hit a pair of home runs to lead Willey’s Tire Shop to a 13-9 victory over Martin Sports in a Class B game on the opening night of the Iron Range Women’s Softball League season on Wednesday.
Also for the winners, Miranda Cobb homered; Beckey Grove, Amy Williams and Brooke Mitchell each tripled; and Chastity Lindstrom doubled. Martin’s Gabby Hebert hit a grand slam homer while Hannah Messing tripled.
In another game in “B,” Rachel Hytinen went 5 for 5 with a double as Paradise Bar outscored Pineshears 24-14. Teammate Katie Mitchell hit a pair of doubles and a triple, while Hailey Hytinen homered and Kylie Tobias and Mariah Heard both tripled.
Pineshears’ Chelsea Roberts hit a homer and triple, while Toni Tikkanen and Livvie Wood each had a triple.
Shari Mahoski went 3 for 3 while teammate Courtney Beauchamp was credited with a great outfield catch as Elks’ Lodge ran past the Eagles, 17-11.
The winners’ Caylie Gray and Stacy Sibley tripled, while the Eagles’ Olivia Negilski was 3 for 3, Terri Axford tripled and Laycee Mattson doubled.
Linda Dompierre homered and Savanna Duggan tripled in Signs Unlimited’s 25-4 thrashing of Palomaki Family Chiropractic, which saw Mollie Pruett homer.
In the other “B” game, Tino’s won by forfeit over Quality Car Care.
In Class A, Taylor Oakland went 4 for 5 with a homer as Jasper Ridge Brewery eked out a 19-15 triumph over LaCosse & Associates.
The winners’ Steph Abata went 3 for 4 with a double, while LaCosse’s Morgan Kowalski hit a trio of triples and Morganne Badgeso a pair of doubles.
Also in “A,” Chelsie Wealton went 5 for 5 while Brandi Logan was 4 for 5 with a triple as Congress Pizza pulled out an 18-13 win over Barrel & Beam, whose Tia Mattila and Jackie Skradski each had three hits.
Mandie Meyer, Hannah Holma and Tiah Pusakulich scored four runs apiece in Screened Image-Barr’s Bar’s 33-11 win over Dave’s Collision-Jack’s, whose Mel Maddock and Jordann Lori each had a double.
And River Rock doubled up Pasquali’s 22-11.
