60th annual Escanaba Football Clinic set for April 19

GLADSTONE — The 60th annual Escanaba Football Clinic will be held during mid-April at the Terrace Bay Hotel located between Gladstone and Escanaba.

The event is scheduled for the evening of Friday, April 19, in the large meeting room at Terrace Bay, which is located just off of U.S. 2 and 41 near Lake Michigan.

Early registration by April 17 costs $40 and early registration for three or more coaches from the same school is $35 per attendee. Cost at the door is $45.

An Upper Peninsula college football coach and two U.P. high schools will make presentations. They will present important aspects of their programs, according to clinic organizer Dan Flynn, with an opportunity to ask questions.

Registration opens at 5 p.m. with Michigan Tech running backs coach and special teams coordinator Phil Milbrath making the first presentation at 6 p.m. titled “MTU’s Counter Run Series” and “Special Teams Drills and Skill Circuit.”

He will be followed at 7:15 p.m. by head coach Chad Brandt of 2023 MHSAA Division 7 state finalist Menominee High School with “Developing Program Culture and Expectations While Listening to Coaches and Players” and “Key Plays in the Menominee Offense with Team Preparation Drills.”

Lake Linden-Hubbell head coach Brett Gervais will wrap up the evening with an 8:30 p.m. presentation, “Beyond the Gridiron: Cultivating Strength, Leadership and Success.”
