Scott Prunick of Marquette captures Red Fox Open golf title at Red Fox Run Golf Course at K.I. Sawyer

K.I. SAWYER — Scott Prunick of the Marquette Golf Club was crowned champion of the 24th annual Red Fox Open golf tournament held at Red Fox Run Golf Course at K.I. Sawyer last weekend.

Prunick shot a 36-hole total of 140 with rounds of 68 on Saturday and 72 on Sunday to defeat Chris Rhoades in the championship flight by three strokes.

Rhoades actually tied Carter Mason with 143, but Rhoades won the runner-up position on a tiebreaker.

Rob Ryan shot 146 to finish fourth in the championship flight.

There were 40 players entered from the central Upper Peninsula and various other locations around the country.

Greg Bull captured the first flight with 164 as he was followed by Ryan Meyer with 167 and Mike Polini and Matt Garrison, each with 168 as Polini won their tiebreaker.

In the Senior Division, Mark Codere triumphed in the championship flight with 148 as Jim Caywood was runner-up with 153.

Mike Musolf won the Senior first flight with 165 in a tiebreaker over Steve Mattson, who did accomplish making his first career hole-in-one on Sunday on the fourth hole.
