Junior swan song: Northern Michigan University Golf Course hosts final regular season stop of UPGA Junior Golf Tour

HARVEY — Nearly two dozen boys took part in the final Upper Peninsula Golf Association Junior Tour event held at the Northern Michigan University Golf Course on Monday.

A pair of golfers from the Marquette Golf Club and another from the Indian Lake Golf and Country Club in Manistique won age-group titles.

Among them was Landon Monroe, 13, of Marquette in the 12-13-year-old group for shooting a nine-hole score of 39.

Also from Marquette was Jack Pond, 15, who took the 14-15 group with an 18-hole score of 71.

And from Manistique was 16-18 group winner Landon Dougherty, who posted 75 for his 18 holes.

This was the youth tour’s ninth and final event before its UPGA Junior Tour Championship will be held Monday at Terrace Bluff Golf Course in Gladstone.

Top players at the championship event qualify to play in the Golf Association of Michigan Junior Invitational at Michigan State University in East Lansing on Sept. 30 and Oct. 1.

Here are the standings from NMU event, listed by age group with each golfer’s age, home course and score. The three youngest age groups played nine holes while the two oldest played 18 holes:
