Upper Peninsula Rowing club informational meeting set for summer Learn to Row lessons

MARQUETTE — The Upper Peninsula Rowing club will hold a parent informational meeting about its summer youth Learn to Row sessions next week.

The meeting will be held from 6-7 p.m. Wednesday at the U.P. Rowing clubhouse located below the observation deck at 655 S. Lakeshore Blvd.

Interested youth can join their parents or guardians to learn about the club’s summer youth program. Registration will also be available.

The program is for teenagers from 13-18 years old and held on Marquette’s lower harbor.

Rowing is a low-impact sport that is a great activity for athletes and nonathletes alike, according to the club. Youth participants have an opportunity to try rowing in a fun and supervised environment.

The program runs from June 26-Aug. 30 on Mondays and Wednesdays each day from 5:30-7 p.m.

Program cost is $125 and scholarships are available.

For more information, visit the club’s website at www.uprowing.com or call 906-250-4486.
