Northern Michigan University soccer teams to host community adult, youth tournaments

MARQUETTE — The Northern Michigan University men’s and women’s soccer teams will be holding an adult tournament and a series of youth tournaments in early July.

The six-on-six coed adult tourney runs on Friday and Saturday, July 7-8, while the 3-on-3 youth event will be held Saturday and Sunday, July 8-9.

Registration for each of these tournaments can be found on the NMU Tickets website at nmu.universitytickets.com and paging to these early July events, or can be found directly at these addresses:

6-on-6 adult coed tourney

This two-day events guarantees three games to each team, with more possible through playoffs and the championship match.

Games to be played at the NMU Soccer Practice Field located behind the Superior Dome on side facing Lake Superior will begin as early as 6 p.m. on July 7, while check-in is on that day from 5-7 p.m. and registration closes when 12 teams have registered.

Team registration fee is $250 per team, with a maximum nine players per roster. Players must at least 18 years old.

Teams will be emailed the schedule two weeks prior to the start.

Once a team is registered, a representative is requested to email Laura Wayland at lwayland@nmu.edu with team name and roster. Also provide shirt sizes for each member.

3-on-3 youth tournaments

There will be seven age and gender divisions — Under-9, U-12 and U-14 for boys and girls, along with a coed High School division.

This two-day event guarantees three games for each team with more possible in the playoffs and championship rounds.

Games to be played at the NMU Soccer Practice Field located behind the Superior Dome on side facing Lake Superior will begin as early as 9 a.m. on July 8, while check-in is on that day from 9-11 a.m. and registration in each division closes when eight teams have registered.

Team registration fee is $250 per teams with up to six players allowed on the roster. Schedules will be emailed two weeks prior to the first game.

Once a team is registered, a representative is requested to email Laura Wayland at lwayland@nmu.edu with team name and roster. Also provide shirt sizes for each member.
