Libbie Doney hits for the cycle to lead Dave’s Collision to 21-20 win over Pineshears in Class A of the Iron Range Women’s Softball League

NEGAUNEE — Despite striking out once, Libbie Doney found enough at-bats to hit for the cycle as her Dave’s Collision team edged Pineshears 21-20 in a Class A game in the Iron Range Women’s Softball League last Wednesday.

Teammate Arica Altobello went a perfect 5 for 5, while Pineshears’ Mary Peterson homered, Livvie Wood tripled and Toni Tikkanen doubled.

In another nailbiter in “A,” good team hitting was credited with LaCosse & Associates pulling off an 11-10 win over Martin Sports, whose Gabby Hebert and Jess Harper each tripled.

Alyssa Hill homered, Morgan Carlson and Jen Bahrman both tripled and Bahrman and Jayda Johnson had a hand in a double play as River Rock took a 21-5 win over Jack’s Teepee, which was credited with great outfielding.

Nicole Christensen and Nik Schultz each homered as part of great team hitting when Buck’s Party Store-Barrel & Beam downed Jasper Ridge Brewery 24-9.

Jasper’s Erika Bjorne homered, while LeAnn Saarela, who tripled, and Taylor Oakland both went 3 for 3.

Kerry Tornberg went 4 for 4 to lead Congress Pizzas to a 16-10 triumph over Screened Image, whose Vanessa Freberg went 2 for 4 with a pair of homers.

In Class B, Jess Taylor and Jenny Anderson each went 5 for 5 with Taylor cracking a pair of doubles to lead Cedar Saunas past Pasquali’s 20-18.

The winners’ Nichole Treloar went 4 for 4 and Ella Fortner and Sabrina Elledge both were 4 for 5 to support winning hurler Elaina Treloar. Pasquali’s Thalicia DelAngelo and Cheryl Kuzak had two hits and three RBIs apiece.

Bethany Larson went 4 for 4 with a homer to lead Signs Unlimited to a 26-5 thrashing of Paradise Bar, which got a 2-for-2 night from Kathy Lynch.

Sarah Massie tripled and Chelsea Belanger doubled to lead Tino’s past Quality Car Care 20-16.

Despite a grand slam from Karlie Kargela and 3-for-3 performance from Caylie Gray, Cognition fell to Globe Printing 18-11.

In Class C, Ecko Popps and Jojo West each went 4 for 4 with extra-base power to lead Eagles past Palomaki Family Chiropractic 21-13.

Popps hit a pair of homers and collected two RBIs, while West hit a homer and two doubles while knocking in three runs.

Teammates Brianna Bauer and Kristi DeCaire both went 3 for 4 with four RBIs, with Bauer hitting an over-the-fence homer and a pair of doubles and DeCaire a double.

Palomaki’s Mollie Pruett, who tripled, Jenn Quayle, who doubled, and Katie Trudgeon all went 3 for 3.

Great hitting helped U.P. Fabricating pull off a narrow 20-19 win over Willey’s Tire Shop, whose Amy Williams was 3 for 4 with two homers.
