Miners win again

NEGAUNEE — The Negaunee Miners boys tennis team blanked visiting Ishpeming, 8-0, Tuesday afternoon.

“We were focused again today and it’s good to see all four singles players trying to control the pace of points,” said Negaunee coach Kyle Saari. “Their experience has allowed them the confidence to do that, so we’re excited for Luke (Syrjala), Gavin Saunders, Tyler (Lajimodiere) and Mick (Kumpala) in that regard.”

The NHS singles players did not give up a point Tuesday.

“Our question mark early was who would fill the last four doubles spot with Brandon (Borlace),” Saari said. “Ethan (Harris) really played a lot last summer and during the winter, and he complements Brandon well.”

Negaunee is scheduled to play at the Escanaba Invitational today, while Ishpeming was to visit Gwinn this afternoon.
