Terri Todd, Natalie Prophet lead teams to 1-run victories in Iron Range Women’s Softball League action
ISHPEMING — Terri Todd hit a grand slam home run and Katy Trudgeon also homered to lead Palomaki Family Chiropractic to a narrow 18-17 victory over U.P. Fabricating in Class B of the Iron Range Women’s Softball League on Wednesday.
U.P. Fabricating’s Rachael Mager also homered.
In another one-run game in “B,” Natalie Prophet hit four triples and knocked in eight runs to help Martin Sports pull out a crazy 28-27 triumph over Quality Car Care.
Prophet’s teammate Hannah Messing hit a grand slam, while Kim Koski hit a “regular” homer.
For QCC, Joanna Small hit a trio of doubles while collecting four RBIs while Amy Young was 3 for 4 with a triple.
Mackenzie Richards went 3 for 3, Abby Koski hit a pair of doubles and Kylie Tobias tripled to lead Paradise Bar to an 11-9 victory over Venice-Hickey’s, whose Caylie Gray, Deanna Makela and Becky Lee all tripled.
Amber Tuominen went a perfect 5 for 5 with a double to lead Pineshears to a high-scoring 26-15 win over Willey’s Tire Shop. The winners’ Toni Tikkanen, who also tripled, and Tia Mattila each were 4 for 6 with two doubles.
Krystal Heikkinen homered for Willey’s.
Signs Unlimited was credited with good defense in a 12-6 win over Globe Printing, whose Diana Bazinette was 3 for 5.
In Class A, Ashley Maki went 4 for 4 with a triple to help Heritage Glove Repair drop Tino’s 27-1.
Maki’s teammates Jenna Wealton and Katie Rankinen both were 3 for 4, while Tino’s Taryn Myers was 2 for 2 with a homer.
Also in “A,” Sydney Wickstrom, Melanee Maddock and Jamee Gobert each hit homers to help Dave’s Collision put together an 18-10 triumph over Pasquali’s, whose Jordan Fitzpatrick tripled.
Jackie “Big Jack” Skradski homered to allow Buck’s Party Store to garner a 14-6 win over River Rock, whose Kelsi Gustafson went 3 for 4.
906 Sports Bar downed Jack’s Teepee 9-4 despite Jack’s Cheryl Kuzak getting a triple and double.
A team effort by all was credited in Screened Image-Venice 2’s 21-10 win over Jasper Ridge Brewery.
And in a makeup game between a pair of unbeatens, Screened Image-Venice 2 kept hold of it grip atop the division with an 18-11 win over Buck’s Party Store.
For SI-V2, Emilee Rowe and Teri Tammelin were noted for nice hits, while Buck’s Deb Zummak went 4 for 4 and Nikki Schultz 3 for 4.
