Future of the sport: Marquette County junior golfers finish season with 2 events at Gentz’s Homestead Golf Course

MARQUETTE — The culmination of the summer season for the Marquette County Junior Golf Association took place at Gentz’s Homestead Golf Course in Chocolay Township.

On July 27, match play was held in the various boys’ and girls’ divisions, while for those who didn’t qualify, a Drive, Chip and Putt competition was also held.

The group included 240 youngsters this summer, according to Karla McCutcheon, one of the group’s directors.

After several rounds of qualifying, the top two golfers in each flight squared off in match play.
