Trio lead Pineshears to one-run win over Quality Car Care

ISHPEMING — A trio of players each collected three hits including one for extra bases to lead Pineshears to the narrowest of victories, a 13-12 decision over Quality Car Care in Class B of the Iron Range Women’s Softball League on June 22.

Chelsea Roberts went 3 for 4 with a triple, Nikki Long 3 for 4 with a double and Toni Tikkanen 3 for 5 with a triple as teammate Livvie Wood was credited for her “awesome fielding.”

QCC’s Michelle Lammi was 3 for 4 with a triple while teammate Gina Debelak was also 3 for 4 but with a double.

In other Class B action, Hailey Hytinen and Kylie Tobias led Paradise Bar’s big offensive outburst in a 23-21 win over Eagles.

Both went 4 for 5 as Hytinen had two homers and a triple, while Tobias had a homer and two doubles.

The Eagles’ Nancy Laine hit a grand slam homer while Joy Prisk was 3 for 4.

Neily Collick went 5 for 5 with a grand slam to lead Globe Printing to a 29-8 win over U.P. Fabricating.

The winners’ Sarah Boogren also homered.

Gabby Hebert cranked a grand slam as Martin Sports posted a 24-9 win over Palomaki Family Chiropractic, whose Mary Aho and Barb Palomaki each went 3 for 3.

Jen Laurila tripled as Venice-Hickey beat Willey’s Tire Shop 13-10.

In a June 15 game, Hebert, Olivia Letson and Kim Koski homered to lead Martin Sports to a 27-12 victory over Willey’s Tire Shop, whose Amy Williams went 3 for 4 with a triple.

In Class A, Amber Emanuelson hit a pair of doubles and Steph Abata was 3 for 3 as Jasper Ridge Brewery squeaked out a 12-11 win over Heritage Glove Repair, whose Chelsie Katalin was 4 for 4 with a triple.

In another one-run game in “A,” Morgan Carlson and Kenzie Karki tripled and Heather Moore was cited for great defensive efforts as River Rock posted a 11-10 extra-innings win over Tino’s, which got doubles from Taryn Myers, Sam Dymond and Amber Salo.

Frannie Kelly went 4 for 5 and Brandee Korpi and Jess Geist each were 3 for 4 as Pasquali’s got a 23-19 win over Jack’s Teepee, whose Cheryl Kuzak and Steph Stocking each were 3 for 4.

Libbie Doney went 3 for 4 with a homer as Dave’s Collision earned a 15-10 victory over 906 Sports Bar, whose Tayler Gray and Lexi Pomplun both tripled.

On June 15, Mariah Dunham, Mandie Meyer and Molly Wales all homered as Screened Image-Venice 2 posted a 20-3 win over Dave’s Collision, whose Libbie Doney homered and was cited for great defensive play.
