Manistique and Michigan Tech’s Tristan Ashbrook named CCHA Forward of the Week

DEEPHAVEN, Minn. — Manistique native and Michigan Tech junior Tristan Ashbrook has been named the CCHA Forward of the Week after scoring four goals in the Huskies’ sweep of Ferris State last weekend.

Ashbrook scored two goals each night, including a power play goal each night.

He also scored the game-winner in the third period of Friday’s 6-4 win.

Ashbrook is now on a four-game point-scoring streak with six goals and two assists and ranks second among MTU players with seven goals.

Tech also won 6-1 on Saturday and is now 8-5 overall and 5-3 in the CCHA. The Huskies are in fourth place with 17 points, one point behind the 18 posted by second-place Northern Michigan University and Bemidji State. While MTU and Bemidji have played the same number of league games — eight — NMU has played 12 in the CCHA.

Tech travels to CCHA leader Minnesota State-Mankato on Friday and Saturday nights. The Mavericks are 8-2 in the league for 24 points and 12-4 overall.
