Marquette Blues sweep American Legion baseball season series from Bark River with 11-1 win

BARK RIVER — The first time the Marquette Blues American Legion baseball team faced Bark River this season, the Blues split a doubleheader with them.

On Tuesday, it was all Blues in a single game as they thumped BR 11-1 in five innings.

It didn’t take long for Marquette to start. Brock Taylor singled home two runs in the top of the first and Erik Johnson socked an RBI double in the second.

Marquette added another run in the fourth on an RBI single by Justin Wenk for a 4-0 lead before breaking the game open with seven runs in the fourth. The Bucs scored their only run in their half of the fourth on a passed ball.

Wenk got the win on the mound for the Blues as he pitched two shutout innings, while starter Max Hall was dealt the loss after giving up two runs on three hits in the first inning.
