Division leaders hold serve in Iron Range Women’s Softball League
NEGAUNEE — Division leaders kept at least a share of their leads by posting victories on July 7 in the Iron Range Women’s Softball League.
In Class B, Jasper Ridge Brewery stayed one game ahead with a narrow 12-10 victory over Jack’s Teepee.
The winners’ Amber Emanuelson was 3 for 3 with a pair of doubles, while teammate Annie Bjork went 3 for 4 with a triple.
Jack’s Marissa Carello was 3 for 4 with a double while Jordann Grigg homered.
Also in “B,” Pasquali’s remained in second place with a 26-13 doubling up of Quality Car Care.
Pasquali’s Jordan Fitzpatrick was a perfect 6 for 6 while teammate Eliina Miilu provided the power, hitting a triple and two doubles while going 5 for 6.
For QCC, Becky Moyle tripled and Amy Young doubled.
Danielle Winkel hit two triples and a double as 906 Sports Bar eked out a 24-22 win over Dave’s Collision.
The winners’ Tayler Gray homered and doubled, while teammates Thalicia DelAngelo and Lexi Pomplun hit two triples apiece.
For Dave’s, Jamee Gobert hit a home run, a pair of triples and a double, Mel Bess was 5 for 5 with a double and Libbie Doney homered.
Kim Koski and Gabby Hebert each tripled as Martin Sports posted a 26-13 win over Venice-Hickey’s, whose Caylie Gray homered.
Globe Printing upended Signs Unlimited 10-4.
In Class C, Pineshears maintained its division lead with a 30-14 blitzing of Willey’s Tire Shop.
Pineshears’ Toni Tikkanen and Mary Peterson each went 4 for 5, with Tikkanen hitting a triple and Peterson a double. Teammates Heidi Verville, Chelsey Wunder and Chelsea Roberts all went 3 for 4 with a homer, Verville also adding a triple and Wunder a double.
For Willey’s, Brooke Mitchell and Caitlin Hewitt both went 4 for 4, Mitchell including two triples and a double, while Becky Grove was 3 for 4 with a double.
Also in “C,” the Eagles remained a game back with a 10-9 nailbiter over U.P. Fabricating.
The winners’ Jackie Skradski was 4 for 4 with a double and Jenny Anderson 3 for 4 with a triple to support winning pitcher Elaina Treloar.
UPF’s Val Prusi was 3 for 4 with a double while Lynn Laakso went 3 for 3.
Rachel Hytinen, Kelly Hebert and Amber Nault each went 4 for 4 to lead Paradise Bar to a 24-3 whomping of Palomaki Family Chiropractic, whose Jenn Quayle was 2 for 3.
In Class A, Screened Image-Venice 2 defeated Buster’s 24-4 to pull into a tie atop the division with idle Heritage Glove Repair.
The winners were credited with all-around team hitting, while Buster’s Krista Squiers hit a triple.
Also in “A,” Stasha Warchock, who tripled, and Dindy Cousineau both were 5 for 5 as Buck’s Party Store blew past Tino’s 24-8.
Four other Buck’s players went 4 for 5, while for Tino’s, Shana Caliguri hit a pair of homers and Katie Rankinen a double as each was 2 for 3.
