Vanessa Briones leads 906 Sports Bar’s power barrage in Iron Range Women’s Softball League

ISHPEMING — Vanessa Briones hit three doubles to lead a slew of power hitters as 906 Sports Bar bounced Pasquali’s 21-11 in a Class B game played in the Iron Range Women’s Softball League on June 9.

Teammate Jordan Kowalski added a pair of triples, Danielle Minkel hit a triple and double, Tayler Gray homered and Lexi Pomplun and Thalicia DelAngelo both doubled.

For Pasquali’s, Jess Geist tripled and doubled while Alan Nuorala doubled.

In another “B” game, Traci Sundberg and Hannah Salmi each homered to lead Martin Sports to a 13-10 win over Globe Printing, which got a homer from Chelsee Pekrul and triple from Loretta Willey.

Rhonda Williams tripled to make a winner out of pitcher Doni Hernandez as Quality Car Care posted a 19-13 win over Signs Unlimited, which got a homer from Leah Dompierre.

A huge 19-run fourth inning led Jasper Ridge Brewery to a 26-12 victory over Venice-Hickey’s, whose Gabby Concord homered.

Megan Mattson homered and Marissa Carello and Jordann Grigg both tripled to lead Jack’s Teepee to a big 38-13 win over Dave’s Collision, whose Michelle Roose was cited for her defense.

In Class A, Maria Slater slugged a homer out of the park as Heritage Glove Repair drubbed Tino’s 32-7.

Slater went 4 for 4, as did Britney Rovelsky, while teammate Brandi Logan was 5 for 5. Tino’s Marina Nault, Katie Rankinen and Miranda Roose all went 2 for 2.

In more “A” action, Mariah Dunham homered, doubled and finished 4 for 5 as Screened Image-Venice 2 felled Buck’s Party Store 24-13.

Teammate Niki Pfluger was 5 for 5 with a double, while Buck’s Debbie Zummak went 3 for 5 with a double and Bobbie Ayotte was 3 for 4.

Buster’s had the week’s bye.

In Class C, Chastity Ellet and Kelly Hebert both tripled as Paradise Bar eased past U.P. Fabricating 18-16.

Ellet went 5 for 5, while Hebert and teammate Kathy Maynard were both 4 for 5. For UPF, Alyse Schaffer and Jessica Noskey each went 4 for 4.

In another “C” contest, Chelsea Roberts and Livvie Wood both went 5 for 5 to help Pineshears outscore Palomaki Family Chiropractic 32-6.

Roberts homered, Wood tripled and teammate Toni Tikkanen also homered while going 4 for 5.

Katie Trudgeon and Liz Valela both were 3 for 3 for Palomaki.

Jamie Kibler was 4 for 4 with a homer and double as the Eagles flew past Willey’s Tire Shop 19-4.

Teammate Micailly Carlson was 3 for 4 with two triples and a double to help make a winner of pitcher Elaina Treloar.

Willey’s Brooke Mitchell was 3 for 3 while Krystal Heikkinen went 2 for 3.
