Foursome makes 2 aces at Marquette Golf Club in same round last week

MARQUETTE — The Marquette Golf Club quite literally recorded a million-to-one event on Wednesday when two golfers in the same foursome recorded holes-in-one in the same round.

Playing on the club’s Greywalls course, club officials said their research shows the odds of have two aces in one foursome’s round are 1.3 million to 1.

John Howko got the party started when he used a 9-iron to knock in his tee shot on the 146-yard hole No. 6. It was his sixth career ace.

Then on the back nine, Roger Contois used a 7-iron for a hole-in-one on the 179-yard 15th hole. This was his second hole-out from the tees.

The not-so-lucky golfers who went ace-less, but extremely fortunate witnesses who saw all this first-hand in their group were Joe Cram and David Allan.
