MSHS baseball scores two victories

MARQUETTE — The Marquette Senior High School varsity baseball team claimed two victories of vastly different varieties Friday and Saturday.

On Friday, the Redmen pounded host Kingsford High, 17-2, while on Saturday, MSHS squeaked by Superior Central, 8-7, in Marquette.

At Kingsford, Marquette held the lead the entire game, scoring two in the first, three in the third and three in the sixth, then exploding for nine runs in the seventh inning.

E. Johnson was the winning pitcher, going 4 • innings, allowing one run and striking out 10. B. Wright has three RBIs to lead MSHS.

Pugh took the loss for Kingsford, giving up five runs in four innings. LaVarnway earned both Flivver RBIs.

On Saturday, the Redmen scored four in the third inning, then saw Superior Central tally seven runs in the fourth inning.

MSHS struck back, with a three-run fifth and the winning run coming across in the sixth inning.

J. Wenk was the winning pitcher, allowing 7 runs in 6• innings.

Mclaury took the loss, allowing 2 runs in an inning and a third.

Offensively, the Redmen were led by D. Perderson with two RBI, while Cain and K. Frusti had RBIs for Superior Central.

Marquette is scheduled to host Escanaba at 4 p.m. today.

Superior Central hosts Negaunee at 4 p.m. Wednesday.
