Marquette Senior High School figure skaters win several individual championships at state finals
MARQUETTE — The Marquette Senior High School figure skating team picked up several top-10 finishes, including by the entire team on the first day of the Michigan High School state finals that were held in Dearborn during the first weekend of April.
The team had only competed virtually before that due to the coronavirus pandemic, according to the MSHS sports website, but were able to compete in person for the finals.
On the first day of the meet, individual events in Artistic, Dance and Freeskate categories were held, with the Redettes finishing fourth out of 28 teams with 56 points. Kalamazoo Area won with 81, followed by Dearborn Divine Child with 77, Plymouth-Canton with 63 and Marquette.
Marquette had a pair of individual state champions, Olivia Klump in Artistic and Cassie Davis in Dance.

Olivia Klump — Artistic, 1st place (state champion); Freeskate, 5th
Cassie Davis — Freeskate, 1st (state champion); Freeskate, 9th
Samantha Heikkila — Freeskate, 2nd; Artistic, 6th
Jamie Hendrickson — Freeskate, 3rd; Artistic, 5th
Regina Olson — Dance, 4th; Freeskate, 4th
Addie Ollila — Freeskate, 5th; Artistic, 7th
Paige Hendrickson — Freeskate, 6th; Dance, 9th
Day 2’s team competition saw the Redettes finish 11th.
The team’s top finish was in moves, where the trio of Heikkila, Davis and Paige Hendrickson were state runners-up.
In addition, Ollila, Davis and Paige Hendrickson were 13th in Jumps while the quartet of Davis, Heikkila, Jamie Hendrickson and Paige Hendrickson were 13th in Spins.
