River Shumate not enough for Finlandia men to get basketball win
IRONWOOD — Republic-Michigamme graduate and junior River Shumate scored 11 points and grabbed eight rebounds but it wasn’t enough for the Finlandia men’s basketball team to avert a 98-88 loss at Gogebic Community College on Saturday.
The Lions (0-8) were led in scoring by senior Dylan Underwood with 20 points, while fershman Jamhad Hines scored 14.
Sincere Key and Marlen Williams led Gogebic (1-3) with 26 points apiece.
Finlandia comes home to take on Bay College at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
