ESCANABA — A pair of Gwinn High School graduates helped Bay College finish its women’s basketball regular season with a flourish as the Norse won close games on back-to-back days over the weekend.

Bay (6-10) defeated Highland Community College 68-67 on Saturday in Freeport, Illinois, as sophomore Trish McGuire made a trio of 3-pointers early.

Then on Sunday, McGuire and fellow sophomore Brooke Mannor each scored six points, both making a pair of triples, in the Norse’s 55-52 home win over Kankakee Community College.

McGuire also had six assists, four rebounds and two steals, while Mannor added two rebounds.

The Norse advance to the National Junior College Athletic Association tournament, playing a Region XIII East tournament game against Rochester tonight.
