Glenn Carlson, 90, wins bowling tourney at Superior Lanes

MARQUETTE — Age really is nothing but a number to bowler Glenn Carlson.

At the spry age of 90, the Marquette resident won a bowling tournament that was held the past two weekends for league bowlers at Superior Lanes of Marquette Township.

Carlson and the other participants bowled three games with scores that included handicap. There were 40 entries altogether.

Using a 148 average, Carlson zoomed well past that with games of 203, 188 and 201 for a 592 scratch series, and with his handicap it became 811.

He beat out runner-up Bob Fleury of Marquette, who shot 684 scratch and 783 total, and third-place Bryan Miller of Gwinn, who had 594 and 759.

The top woman finisher was Bonnie Kennedy, with 583 and 739.

The center has returned to open bowling along with its leagues. For more information, visit its online page at wingsandbowling.com or call 225-9230.
