Michigan Tech reschedules 2 hockey series

HOUGHTON — Michigan Tech University has announced changes to its hockey schedule prompted by the postponement of WCHA games that were scheduled last weekend and this weekend.

Due to coronavirus testing results that weren’t divulged in more detail by the university, the Huskies have been forced to stay off the ice last weekend for a series at nationally ranked Minnesota State-Mankato and this weekend for a road series at Ferris State.

The Ferris series will now be played on the first two Tuesdays in February, Feb. 2 and Feb. 9, while the series at Mankato will be played March 5-6, which was an off week that was built into the league schedule between the regular season and playoffs.

MTU also had a nonconference series against Northern Michigan in November that was called off due to pandemic concerns within the Wildcats’ program at the time.

Those two Upper Peninsula teams have a league series scheduled for Friday, Feb. 26, in Houghton and the following night in Marquette.
