MARQUETTE — The Michigan High School Football Coaches Association announced its All-Region teams Friday, with a local coach and several players gaining honors.

Eric Mason, Marquette Senior High School head coach, was named as the Regional Coach of the Year in Division 3, Region 9.

Superiorland players saluted as all-region in Division 6 included Westwood High School’s Spencer Harvala, offensive line; Garrett Mann, running back and linebacker; and Zach Carlson, defensive back.

Also in Division 6, Negaunee’s Eli Luokkala was honored at tight end.

On the MHSFCA 8-Player All-Region team in Division 1, Region 2 is Munising’s Chad Trepczyk at running back.

Athletic Director Alex Tiseo said via email that Marquette finished 7-2 on the season and captured its second consecutive outright GNC title. The team then defeated Muskegon Reeths-Puffer in the first round and Mount Pleasant in the second round of the MHSAA Division 3 playoff before falling to Muskegon in the district championship game. 2020 marked the first time in school history that the team garnered multiple playoff victories in the same season.
