All-region volleyball: 15 area players earn recogntion from state coaches group

MARQUETTE — Fifteen volleyball players from five area high schools earned all-region honors as recently announced by the Michigan Interscholastic Volleyball Coaches Association.
Players came from high schools whose head coach is a member of MIVCA.
In the association’s Region 1, which included the western half of the Upper Peninsula, there were four honorees from Marquette Senior High School and three each from Negaunee and Gwinn.
In Region 2, the eastern half of the U.P., there were four players honored from Manistique and one from Superior Central.
In all, 42 players from the U.P. across all four divisions were honored. The most came from Calumet, with five.
Across MIVCA’s 19 regions statewide, more than 600 players were honored following nominations from coaches and a region meeting attended by region representatives and varsity coaches.
Select regional winners, all of whom received a certificate of recognition, can then be nominated for all-state recognition.

Marquette — Seiler Hruska, outside hitter, jr.; Maria Millado, middle blocker, jr.; Celinda Brunswick, libero, sr.; Roxy Nelson, middle blocker, jr.
Negaunee — Larissa Anderson, setter, sr.; Natalie Bell, middle blocker, jr.; Sierra Hendrickson, defensive specialist, sr.
Gwinn — Halle Beauchamp, middle blocker, sr.; Tianna Taylor, outside hitter, sr.; Eliina Miilu, middle blocker, sr.
Superior Central — Riley Johnson, middle blocker, jr.
Manistique — Emma Jones, setter, fr.; Brooke Richey, outside hitter, sr.; Ella Schuetter, middle blocker, fr.; Delaney Zellar, defensive specialist, sr.
