MARQUETTE — The Marquette Golf Club recently held three club championships, with two of them completed during the week headed into Labor Day weekend.

The Ladies Club Championship was contested on the club’s Heritage course on Aug. 29 and 30, while Junior Club Championship was held last Tuesday, also on the Heritage course.

Qualifying in the Men’s Club Championship was held the weekend of Aug. 29-30 on the Greywalls course as the 16 qualifiers were scheduled to determine a champion on Sunday of the holiday weekend.

Here are details from each tournament:

Ladies Club

Seven women joined defending champion Nicole Noble in qualifying previous to the championship weekend, which held three rounds to whittle the field to a single champion.

In the quarterfinals, Noble felled Michelle Smith, Karla McCutcheon defeated Jan Hruska, Sheila Grazulis knocked off Morgan Rhoades and Jessica Hanley took out Mary Jo Stuart.

McCutcheon emerged victorious over Noble in one semifinal match, with the other going to Grazulis, who defeated Hanley.

Then in the finals, Grazulis outlasted McCutcheon to capture her first Ladies Club title.
