IRON MOUNTAIN — Iron Mountain wasn’t the place to be for Marquette Reds batters if they wanted to improve their batting averages on Tuesday night.

The junior-age team visitors managed just two singles against pitcher Henry McRoberts of the IM-Kingsford-Norway junior team as the home team won 10-0.

Those hits were picked up by Luke Mead, who also stole a base, and Easton Miller as McRoberts pitched all six innings, striking out seven and walking one as the IM defense made two errors, the same number as the Reds.

Paavo Mannisto started on the mound for Marquette and took the loss, going 1 2/3 innings and giving up five earned runs on four hits and four walks as he fanned two.

Braiden Noskey went the next 2 1/3 innings for Marquette, not allowing a run off three hits as he didn’t walk anyone and K’d two. Logan Peterson and Eathan Jennings went the final inning, between them allowing five earned runs on five hits with two walks and a K.

The home team scored five times in the second inning, adding one in the fifth and four in the sixth to invoke the 10-run rule.

Beau Krolavec led IM hitters, going 3 for 3 with two doubles, an RBI, a run, a walk and a stolen base. Teammates with two hits included Chase Carlson, Riley Juneau and Ian Anderson, who also had two stolen bases.

Up next on the Reds’ schedule is a home doubleheader against the Gladstone Junior Braves at 5 p.m. today, while the Marquette Blues were set to play a doubleheader at the Negaunee Diamonds at 6 p.m. today.
