Marquette Reds’ baseball doubleheader postponed, team OK’d to play at home by city

MARQUETTE — Tonight’s Marquette Reds home doubleheader against Norway-Niagara, Wisconsin, has been postponed due to the visiting team not being able to field a team.

However, Reds manager Mark Pantti said his team and the associated Marquette Blues have received permission to play home games at the Gerard Haley Memorial Field in north Marquette from the city of Marquette.

Games hadn’t previously been allowed due to conditions from the coronavirus pandemic.

That will give the green light to the Marquette Blues home doubleheader against Gladstone at 6 p.m. Wednesday and the Reds hosting a twinbill against Iron Mountain at 5 p.m. Friday, along with subsequent home games on their schedules.
