Brooke Mannor not enough for Bay College Norse women’s basketball

WAUWATOSA, Wis. — Gwinn freshman Brooke Mannor sank three 3-pointers and scored 11 points but it wasn’t enough for the Bay College women’s basketball team to avert a 78-59 loss at Bryant & Stratton College on Saturday.

Mannor came off the bench and played just 15 minutes, but it was enough to be her team’s second-leading scorer as the Norse’s Cierra Molina had 14 points.

Mannor also had four rebounds.

Munising sophomore Marissa Ackerman scored three points and added two rebounds, two steals and an assist as she started and played 21 minutes.

And Gwinn freshman Trish McGuire also started but didn’t score, instead making three rebounds, four assists and two steals in 27 minutes.

The home team jumped out to leads of 19-9 after one quarter and 36-20 at halftime before the Norse (14-9) played nearly even in the second half.

Bay gets a return engagement with B&S at home in Escanaba at 1 p.m. Saturday.
