ALPENA — Freshman Trish McGuire of Gwinn scored six points as the Bay College women’s basketball team pulled out a 57-51 victory at Alpena Community College on Saturday.

McGuire, playing just 10 minutes, also managed to pull down five rebounds and make an assist and a steal.

Sophomore Marissa Ackerman of Munising started and scored two points, also grabbing five rebounds and making a steal.

Another Gwinn freshman, Brooke Mannor, had a rebound and steal in eight minutes of playing time.

Bay (12-6) trailed after each of the first three quarters, 18-16, 32-29 and 40-39, before mounting a charge in the game’s final two minutes that broke a 49-49 tie.

Bay hosts Gogebic Community College Wednesday.
