Area players help Finlandia women’s basketball team win

SUPERIOR, Wis. — Four area players lent support to sophomore teammate Katie Lundeen’s massive 32-point output in the Finlandia women’s basketball team’s 66-58 victory over St. Scholastica on the second day of the Wisconsin-Superior Holiday Shootout on Monday.

Lundeen, who made 10 2-point field goals and 12 of 15 free throws, had more than twice as many points as any other player on either team.

Helping her was junior Bailey Froberg of L’Anse, who scored four points with a 3-pointer to go with three assists, a rebound and a steal.

Baraga freshman Martina Jahfetson had three points, also with a triple, while Ishpeming sophomore Katie Loman and Baraga sophomore Carsyn Osterman each had two points. Loman added six rebounds and three assists, while Osterman had three rebounds.

The Lions (6-11) are off until Jan. 9 when they host Great Lakes Christian.
