Upper Peninsula Sports Hall of Fame looks for new executive committee member
MARQUETTE — The Upper Peninsula Sports Hall of Fame executive council has an opening for a member from Marquette County.
The council meets annually to select 10 inductees into its hall of fame. It also hosts the annual All-Star Classic basketball games in June and awards scholarships to four U.P. student-athletes each year.
There are more than 330 nominees for the council to consider, with seven selected in the post-1970 era and three in the pre-1970 era each year. The new member would receive a booklet with biographies of each candidate.
Anyone interested in joining the council can call Dennis Grall at 789-9005 or email him at sportsdenesky@gmail.com.
The council opening occurred when long-time member and former Mining Journal sports editor Craig Remsburg of Marquette recently moved to Green Bay, Wisconsin.
