Newberry’s Dave Carlson helps Finlandia Lions football team on defense
HANCOCK — Sophomore Dave Carlson of Newberry made eight tackles while forcing a fumble and recovering a fumble in Finlandia’s 48-24 home defeat to Adrian in an MIAA football game played Saturday in Hancock.
Finlandia (0-8, 0-5 MIAA) set a school record with 431 yards total offense. Defensively, the Lions allowed just 75 yards passing over the final three quarters. It’s a unit that leads NCAA Division III in passing yards allowed.
Finlandia plays its final home game of the season at 1 p.m. Saturday vs. Albion, with another road game to follow on Nov. 16 at Alma.
