Carney-Nadeau hosts men’s Early Bird hoops tournament

CARNEY — Each team is guaranteed to play three games at the eighth annual Carney-Nadeau Early Bird Invitational men’s basketball tournament to be held in early December in Menominee County.

Set for Dec. 7-8 at the C-N High School gym, the tourney features two divisions for up to a dozen teams. A play-in game determines each team’s division before a double-elimination format takes effect.

Winning teams received a first-place trophy and 10 T-shirts, while runners-up receive a trophy. A most valuable player will also be named in each division.

MHSAA rules apply except for a five-minute halftime, 25-point rule with four minutes left, and games will be a 20-minute running clock except for the final two minutes of the first half and final three minutes of the second half.

Proceeds from the event go to the Carney-Nadeau Wolves’ basketball programs.

Sign-up deadline is Dec. 1 and entry fee is $125 and can be mailed with a roster to Paul Polfus, Box 55, Carney, MI 49812. Called-in registrations are also accepted at 906-639-2866, 906-748-0184 (cell phone) or 906-639-2171, ext. 116.

For more information, call Polfus at the preceding numbers or email him at ppolfus@gmail.com.
