Bay men’s basketball splits away from home

MILWAUKEE — The Bay College men’s basketball team couldn’t tame the nation’s No. 2 team in the National Junior College Athletic Association as Milwaukee Area Technical College raced off with a 111-76 home victory over the Norse on Friday night.

Ishpeming graduate and Bay sophomore Dondre Yohe led the local contingent with six points and three rebounds, while Munising sophomore Cade Contreras had three points, making his only 3-point attempt, and an assist. Negaunee sophomore Luke Mattson had two points and a steal, while Gwinn freshman Austin Forbes scored one point to go with a rebound.

On Saturday, Bay (4-3) salvaged a .500 weekend with an 89-71 win over Harper College in Palatine, Illinois.

Mattson and Forbes each scored eight points, with Forbes making two 3-pointers, while Yohe and Contreras added four points apiece. Other statistics weren’t available.
