Area school officials elected to MHSAA boards
MARQUETTE — Marquette Senior High School athletic director Alex Tiseo was elected to represent Class A and B schools from the Upper Peninsula on the Representative Council, the legislative body of the Michigan High School Athletic Association.
He is among five new members elected. Re-elected was St. Ignace superintendent Don Gustafson as one of two statewide junior high/middle school representatives on the council.
The Representative Council is a 19-member body, with 14 elected from member schools. It meets three times a year.
Another election selected representatives to the U.P. Athletic Committee. Negaunee High School principal Andrew Brunette was elected to represent Class A and B schools, Westwood athletic director Jon Beckman was re-elected for Class C schools and Ontonagon superintendent-principal Jim Bobula was named to represent Class D.
The MHSAA includes more than 1,500 public and private senior high and junior high-middle schools to develop rules for athletic eligibility and competition.
