Munising’s Lauren Peters paces Bay College cross country runners

ESCANABA — Munising High School graduate Lauren Peters set the pace for Bay College runners at the collegiate cross country meet held at Concordia University in Mequon, Wisconsin, on Saturday.

In the Norse’s first meet of the season, Peters, a sophomore at Bay, ran the six-kilometer course in 35 minutes, 51.4 seconds. Teammate Olivia Anderson, a freshman from Menominee, ran it in 39:00.6.

The Bay men had one representative, sophomore James Young of Gladstone, who posted his third best time at Bay in 31:22.9.

“(Saturday’s) meet went very well for our season opener,” Norse coach Jim Murtha said. “The conditions were perfect and everyone gave a great effort and set a time to now work on improving throughout the season.”

Bay’s next meet is Sept. 28 at the Roy Griak Invitational in Minneapolis.
